Port Macquarie Pink Party 13 August 2005

Port Macquarie - pink party and more!

PORT LINCOLN PERFECTLY PINK PARTY

"Belly Dancers" Vicki & Xandra

Friday 15th July, there was a gathering of a vastly different range of pink clothing, pink food, pink drinks and, well you guessed it, pink ladies!
It was a crisply cool winter evening, in an apartment overlooking our beautiful Marina, laughter and energy were high, with everyone enjoying the chance to chat and be happy.

Our MC for the evening, Pink Bunny Susie introduced the first of our "surprise entertainment" for the evening, Vicki and her daughter Xandra, two Belly Dancers. Everyone was fascinated as they shimmied and gyrated around the room, they have had requests for a repeat performance and to teach us all, can you imagine 42 people belly dancing together?  The atmosphere in the room went to a higher level of fun and laughter.

We then played  "party games", pass the parcel and a quiz with prizes donated from local businesses, this had all been aranged by Pink Fairy Kerry while some of us had been enjoying ourselves in Vancouver.

Pink Bunny Susie called for everyone to take a seat and out burst "Dragonabba" who "performed" many an Abba song to the delight of us all. Not sure what the neighbours thought, the noise level was incredible as we all joined in singing along with songs we all knew, "Dragon Abba" have also been booked for a repeat performance.

When all had settled down, we called upon Pink Princess Maxine to cut our beautiful cake made and donated by Pink Pat, Maxine thanked all who made our evening possible, particularly Port Lincoln Accomodation, whose apartment we were in, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Schulz & Basham Pharmacy and everyone for joining in and making the night a noisy success.

Just as the "socialising" part of the party got into full swing, "black out", we lost all power and were left in total darkness!! A car load of young people had hit a power pole and the car had burst into flames, fortunately no one was seriously hurt. We had just as much fun clearing up in the dark as we had earlier in the evening, no matches but plenty of pink candles that had been in our parcels, only one torch!

The evening was such a success that we will be repeating the Pink Party theme when we celebrate the 1st Anniversary of our boat launch.

We were very proud and pleased to raise $350 for DAA.

Pendragons "In the Pink Party", Friday 27th May 2005, at Lexis' Restaurant.

Penrith Dragons Abreast

The venue was pink, the food totally pink, and all in attendance revealing their pink attire. There were pink wigs, pink P.J's and slippers, pink rollers, pink balloons and best of all, pink champagne. The night was filled with lucky door prizes, raffles, games, poetry readings, trivia and a room filled with laughter. We have had many request to hold another pink night because it was such a sucess. The night would not have happened without the enormous effort of the following. Lexi and staff for the restaurant and wonderful food, Jackie Collins, Barbara Williams and all the girls from Pendragons Abreast. There was a power point presentation on Pendragons Abreast, which was put together by Sue Sherratt explaining our mission, and driving across the importance of Breast Cancer Survivors getting on with life and living it to the fullest, with fun, determination, friendship and the strength to win with any challenges. $500.00 was raised on the night.

We have so many photos that it was really hard to choose. I hope I have captured the night.

Positively Pink Picnic

Pink Picnic, Canberra 26 June 2005 (click on image for more pictures)

Mavis decided that a good time for a Pink Picnic was to coincide with the 10 year celebrations in Canada, so here we are on a cold day in Canberra, having a Positively Pink Picnic by the lake - heaps of pink goodies, pink champagne and lots of friends and family to enjoy it with us.

We also had a "Come and Try" and quite a few people experienced dragonboating for the first time. We hope to see some of them back for another go soon.

Pink Pyjama Party - 13 May 2005

Another PINK PARTY was held on Friday night. This was a small circle of friends brought together by Susan Tulley - a valuable, non paddling member of DAA – who has been with us from the very beginning – yes, way back since 1998!!

Susan hosted  a PJ Party with Party games, Pizza, Pavlova and PIMS – which was very good! I even managed to win one of the prizes – amazing! It is a lovely set of incense, candles, aromatherapy burner etc – kindly donated by Senator Trish Crossin,

DAA are very grateful to Susan for hosting this ‘intimate’ PJ party – which was a lot of fun and brought in $120 for DAA. Every little bit helps! And it is great to see such diverse activities!
